New Features

DS-498: Admin > Projects > Process > Recalculate Project 5x Speed Up

We have done a lot of code improvements around the Recalculate Project process. This process can manually run via the Admin area, but also is called any time you import a Resource Assignment, Rate or Resource Calculation. A subset of it also runs every time you create or edit a Resource Assignment. With this speed increase, many of these activities should be faster than before this release.

DS-598: Admin > Export > Export Resource Assignments: Read Only Total Cost Column Added Back to Export File

In a previous release, we removed a read-only column that showed the Total Cost for a particular Resource Assignment per month. Some customers needed this field for internal reports. We have added this field back in. Just note, this is a read-only field (you cannot import it back into Dash360). It is an Export only field.

Bug Fixes

DS-306: Admin > Imports > Import Cost Estimates with Changed WBS Number Breaks CAM Permissions

If you give a CAM access to a WBS and then later change that WBS via the Cost Estimate Import, then the system did not update the CAM's permissions to point at the new WBS. Now, it does.

DS-317: Schedule > Schedule Viewer: Finish Date is 1 Day Later than Imported Finish Date

When you imported schedule data into Dash360 and looked at your schedule in the Schedule Viewer, the Finish Dates often showed as 1 day later than what you imported. That has been fixed.

DS-323: Budget > Budget Form > Add / Edit Resource Assignment Linearly Spreads Negative Values Incorrectly

If you had a Resource Assignment and you tried to put a negative value into the Total column, the system would automatically put that total amount in the last month of the Resource Assignment instead of linearly spreading the value across all months. That has been corrected in this release.

DS-349: Admin > Import > Export Cost Estimate Start & Finish Dates are Export-Only / Read-Only Columns

The Cost Estimate Export has a Start & Finish Date that shows the minimum Start Date and the maximum Finish Date for all Resource Assignments in that Cost Estimate. This data is only for export / read-only. We have made this more clear by removing the Start & Finish Date from the import template and the import mapping screen.

DS-360: Notifications about Status Updates Even When No Update (or Schedule) Exists

There was a bug in the notification pane that would show erroneous Status Update notifications when no Status Update existed. This has been corrected.

DS-385: Admin > Projects > Process Icon > Recalculate Project Needs to Light Up for More Actions

Today, if you change certain items in the Admin (Resources, Rates, Resource Calculations, etc.), the Admin > Projects > Process icon / Recalculate Project option will light up. This is because changing this data may cause a change in your timephase data globally. We have enhanced this feature so these options light up when more things change (like changing a Rate File that is attached to a Project’s Cost Class).

DS-388: Admin > Projects > Cost Classes: Rename Cost Class Allowed Even if Do Not Change Historical Flag is On

If you renamed a Cost Class and had the Do Not Change Historical Flag registry setting turned on, the system would recalculate your data in the past. Now, the system will not let you rename a cost class if this flag is on. We recommend that instead of renaming a cost class, you instead create a new cost class and run the Copy Cost Class feature to copy your data into the newly named cost class.

DS-390: Admin > Tableau Dashboard Editor: Refresh Button Not Working

The Tableau Refresh button did not work if you kicked it off from this page. It now works after this release.

DS-415: Admin > Projects > Create Project Error if Reporting Period Filled In

If you created a new project and also set the Reporting Period field at the same time, Dash360 would throw an error. This has been corrected.

DS-417: Earned Value > Performance Index Report was Broken for Some Customers

If you had a project that you Calculated Earned Value for on multiple days in the same month / year, then this report would throw an error. We have fixed this so now the report correctly aggregates this Earned data for the month and displays it accordingly.

DS-420: Schedule > Quick Status Shows Error if Work Package Notebook Field and Schedule Custom Field have the Same Name

If you had a Schedule Custom Field and a Work Package Notebook Field and they had the same name (Ex: Work Package Manager), then the Quick Status would fail to load. We have fixed this issue in this release.

DS-421: Earned Value > Variance Narrative Report > Excel / PDF Reports are Empty

We have fixed the Excel / PDF reports so that they have the correct data downloaded in them.

DS-426: Risk > Risk Register Not Highlighting Selected User View / Not Loading only Active Risks on Default System View

The Risk Register never highlighted the current user or system view that was currently selected. Also, the default system view is supposed to only show Active risks. After this release, both these issues are fixed.

DS-427: Budget > Budget Form > Export Timephase Data has Wrong Total Cost if Notebooks Included

If you included the Resource Assignment Notebooks in your Export Timephase Data, the Total Cost column would have the wrong total. This has been corrected.

DS-431: Budget > Budget Reports > Cost Summary Report Breaks if WBS Links / WP Links Columns are Too Big

If you have a lot of data in the WBS Links or WP Links columns, then this could cause your Cost Summary Report not to load. This has been fixed in this release.

DS-433: Earned Value > CPR > Change System View Text to Make It More Clear

There was some text on the CPR that tried to explain that if you were looking at a system view, then any changes you make to the report are not saved. Changes are only saved if you create a user view from the left-hand menu. This message has been updated to make it more clear.

DS-435:  Earned Value > Variance Narrative Report: SPI and CPI values had a $

CPI and SPI are indexes, not dollar amounts. The $ has been removed from this field.

DS-459: Activities set as Milestones should always have 0 Duration and the same Start / Finish Date

If an Activity is a Milestone, then it should always have 0 Duration and the same Start & Finish Date. We have updated the Import Schedule area to make sure this always happens going forward.

DS-461: Budget > Budget Form > Sticky Note Contingency and Work Package Report > Contingency Don’t Always Match

We had a bug where the Budget Form > Sticky Note > Contingency field and the Work Package Report > Contingency field didn’t always match. We have updated the code so now they do match.

DS-468: Admin > Import > Import Schedule: Make sure Decimal Fields Imported Have the Correct Data

We have added error handling to the Import Schedule feature so that if you try to enter text into a decimal field, you will get an appropriate error message.

DS-470: User Settings > Startup Page Breaking Site for Some Users for Some Pages

If you had a Cost Estimating Report set in the User Settings > Startup Page area, you could actually break the website for yourself when you left Dash360 and came back to the site. This was because the URLs in this dropdown were wrong. We have fixed that issue.

DS-477: Schedule > Quick Status Should Show “Collapse All Groups” Text by Default

The Quick Status page automatically shows all groups / activities on the report. However, the text said “Expand All Groups” at the top of the page - even though the groups were already expanded. Now, the text says “Collapse All Groups” by default.

DS-480: Schedule > Quick Status: Sporadic Javascript Error When Adding Revised % Complete

Sometimes when entering a value in the Revised % Complete field, the Quick Status would throw an error. We have fixed that Javascript issue.

DS-497: Admin > Import > Schedule Data Template has Duplicate Activity IDs Which is Not Allowed

In the Schedule Import, you cannot duplicate Activity IDs, yet the example in our data template showed that you could do that. We have fixed that issue.

DS-499: Admin > Export Primavera Schedule by Resource Assignment Error with Cost Class Filter

If you choose a Cost Class filter, then the export fails. We fixed that in this release.

DS-500: Reporting > Cost Class Curves Lose All Left Hand Menu Filters If A Top Filter is Selected

If you select a top filter after selecting left-hand menu filters, then the report loses all left-hand menu filters even though it says they are still selected. We have fixed that in this release.

DS-501: Budget > Budget Form > Import / Export Timephase Data Unit Cost / Total Cost and WBS / WP Lookup Issues

There were multiple issues around the Timephase Import and Export that have been fixed in this release. First, the Unit Cost field and the Total field were not always present in the Export file. Also, when you imported the Unit Cost value back in for a valid unit cost Resource Assignment, the system would not always properly save that Unit Cost. Finally, the WBS and Work Package dropdown lists did not always have the correct values in the dropdown. All of these issues have been fixed.

DS-504: Budget > Budget Reports > Project Explorer Missing Months in Excel Export

Sometimes when exporting out the Project Explorer’s monthly data, months would be missing from the export file. This has been corrected in this release.

DS-505: Schedule > Quick Status: When Clicking from One Editable Field to the Next a Javascript Error Would Occur

This has been fixed in this release.

DS-507: Earned Value > Variance Report: Adding Explanations would sometimes Create Javascript Error

This has been fixed in this release.

DS-508: Budget > Budget Form > Schedule > Process Icon > Assign All Resource Assignments that Overlap Bug

A bug was occurring sometimes when you would run this process. It has been fixed in this release.

DS-509: Budget > Budget Form > Add / Edit Resource Assignment Error When Resource Code is Null

We fixed this error in this release.

DS-510: Tableau Data Refresh Sometimes Would Error When Refreshing

This has been fixed in this release.

DS-513: Budget > Budget Form > Export Timephase Data Sometimes Duplicating Resource Assignments

We have some customers who have changed Resource Codes on a Resource Assignment AFTER they have turned on the Do-Not-Change-Historical-Flag and began running Calculate Earned Value. When you do this the Export Timephase Data was seeing that as 2 different records because of the different Resource Codes for the same Resource Assignment. This release fixes that issue. Note: Changing Resource Codes is not the recommended practice after you are Calculating Earned Value. In these cases, our recommendation is to close out the current Resource Assignment with the old Resource Code and create a new Resource Assignment with the new Resource Code.

DS-514: Admin > Projects > Process Icon > Copy Project was Not Always Completing / Logo Spinning Forever

We found some issues in the Copy Project that could cause the process to run for a very long time. We have corrected those issues in this release.

DS-519: Earned Value > CPR: CPI Column is Named SPI (2 SPIs on the Page)

In a previous release, we accidentally renamed the CPI column in the CPR report to SPI. This caused 2 SPI columns to appear on the CPR. This has been fixed in this release.

DS-521: Admin > Projects > Registry > Copy Registry Set is Incorrectly Copying the Default Registry

If I choose to copy a Registry Set, it should copy the selected Registry Set. Before this release, it was copying the Default Registry. Now, it correctly copies the Registry Set you selected.

DS-522: Budget > Budget Reports > Activity IDs Quality Check Report Upgrades

We have upgraded the Valid Activity column so it will say No if the WBS and Work Package for the Activity and the Resource Assignment do not match each other. You cannot assign an Activity to a Resource Assignment if they are not in the same WBS and Work Package. This report now correctly helps you identify those issues.

DS-540: Schedule > Quick Status: Error When Entering Revised % Complete Value

This has been fixed this release.

DS-592: Admin > Projects > Process Icon > Copy Cost Class with Replace Existing by Date Range Doesn’t Stop on Finish Date

Before this release, if I did a Copy Cost Class with Replace Existing and a Date Range, the system would not really stop at the Finish Date selected in the date range. It also did not calculate the cost fields correctly which would lead to issues in some reports (Cost Summary Report). This release fixes that issue.

DS-594: Budget > Budget Reports > Project Explorer Throwing Javascript Error

Sometimes when accessing the Project Explorer, a red box would appear. This has been corrected.

Tech Debt
