Admin
As an Administrator in Dash360, you will be responsible for the project configuration and setup. Dash360 is extremely customizable, with many different settings and options. This document is intended to act as a guide that will detail what is required to start generating reports and collecting data from within Dash360.
Whenever you are in the Administrator section of Dash360, you are viewing "all" projects. What I mean by this is you will not have to choose a project to import into in the following steps. You will assign the imported files to a project after importing them.
Required Data
If you are importing legacy data, you will need multiple files. If you are trying to create a project from scratch, these files can be created from within Dash360.
- WBS Code File (Code File)
- Work Package Code File (Code File)
- Rates File (Rate File)
- Resource File (Resource File)
- Resource Results (Resource File)
- Resource Calculations (Resource File)
- Cost Estimates
- Resource Assignments file
Getting Started (Existing Data)
Assuming you have the data that satisfies the above list, you can create a project that will have the ability to start generating an estimate.
- Create a project
- All of the options that you select from this article can be changed later. If you are unsure of an option to pick, make a selection and then come back to change it once you have confirmed which selection is correct for your project.
- Now that the project "shell" is created, we need to start adding files to the project. To do this we need to utilize Dash360's import capability.
- Download a data template from the Import/Export section for each one of the Required Data files listed above(1-6). Cost Estimates and Resource Assignments will be imported in a later step. Making a different selection in the import dropdown will change the type of data template you can download. WBS and Work Package use the "Codes" import, so download a Codes template for your WBS and one for your Work Package.
- Following the order established under Required Data and stopping at number 6, follow the instructions in these articles to import your data into Dash360. It is important that the columns containing file name, such as Resource File Name or Rate File Name, are consistent across all files. The links under Required Data will help point you towards the location of file names in Dash360.
- You may name your files however you would like too, but it is important to note that WBS Codes and Work Package Codes are simply Code files. Code files are utilized for a variety of things in Dash360, from containing WBS codes to containing a list of names to populate a dropdown in a notebook field. Name your WBS and Work Package Code files something descriptive that will allow you to identify what project that code file is for and what is in the code file, ie. Eureka WBS and Eureka Work Package.
- Although the Resource File is commonly referred to as a Resource Code File, it is NOT a simple code file within Dash360. Resources exist as their own "entity" in the Dash360 system. A Resource File will have an attached rate file and sub-categories, Resource Results and Resource Calculations.
- This is the step where we assign the imported files to a project. Follow the steps here. Do not worry about the notebook fields.
- We are establishing the link between the project that was created in step 1 and the files we imported in step 2.
- This files need to be attributed to a project before we can import Cost Estimates and Resource Assignments.
- Now we can import the Cost Estimates and Resource Assignments. Download a Cost Estimates and Resource Assignments data template from the Import/Export menu.
- Copy and Paste your data into the relevant columns
- Start with Cost Estimates and then do Resource Assignments
- Navigate to Estimating - Cost Estimating Form
- Project Set up should be complete.
